Frequently asked questions.

Here are some of the most common questions I receive from business owners looking to build or redesign a website.

01

How much does web design cost in 2024?

The investment for a custom website depends on a number of factors, such as the size of the website (pages), the scope of the project, timelines, functionality, complexity and more.

At Edwards Design, most projects start around $3,000 for a simple 4-5 page website with standard functionality, and can range up to $10,000+ for much more advanced websites with significant custom CSS, integrations and more.

If you’re unsure, the best option is to make an enquiry, where we can get clear on your goals, vision and needs, and prepare a no-obligations proposal for you to make the right decision.

02

How much experience does Edwards Design have with Squarespace websites?

Edwards Design, run by Alex Edwards (founder) is Adelaide’s leading Squarespace website design & management studio. This is not just a fancy title—it’s backed by over 100+ clients in 29 industries and 4 countries who have trusted us to design, build and manage their Squarespace websites.

What makes Edwards Design different is that we exclusively work with Squarespace for every single client project. We don’t use Shopify, WordPress, Webflow, Framer or Wix.

By specialising in Squarespace websites, we understand the platform better than our own reflections—from the smallest intricacies and unknown features, to advanced tricks of the trade that DIY-ers and other web designers simply do not know.

03

How long will it take for you to build my new website?

A typical website design project takes approximately 4 weeks, split between a simple 3-step process, as outlined below:

01. Discovery & Onboarding

We’ll kick off with a 15-minute consultation to discuss your project goals, and you’ll complete an in-depth creative brief questionnaire. Based on this, you’ll receive a custom proposal outlining the scope, timelines and pricing, along with an onboarding email to get things started.

02. Design & Development

Based on your creative brief questionnaire, I’ll design the home page for your early feedback to ensure we’re on the right track from the start. Once you’ve approved the home page design, I’ll build the rest of your website, providing regular Loom video updates to keep you in the loop along the way.

03. Launch & Handover

You’ll review the full website design and may request up to 2 rounds of any final revisions, then we’ll connect your domain and go live! After launch, you’ll receive a personalised training video and enjoy 30 days of email support for quality assurance and to help you manage your site with confidence.

04

What will I need to organise or provide for my website design project?

To ensure your project starts on time and runs smoothly, we recommend organising branding, copywriting and imagery ahead of time (typically 2 weeks prior to your design start date).

If you choose to hire Edwards Design to build your website, you'll need to provide your brand assets (logo, favicon, colour palette, fonts, etc.), as well as any copywriting (words), photos and videos you'd like on your website. All photos & content must be uploaded prior to your design start date to avoid delays.

It’s also worth purchasing your domain and professional email before your design start date. GoDaddy is our most trusted domain provider, so if you’re needing to purchase your domain, we recommend starting there.

05

Why is Squarespace such a good choice for my company’s website?

Squarespace is one of the most popular choices for websites in 2024, due to its flexibility, responsiveness, and user-friendliness.

Millions of businesses and professionals use Squarespace on a daily basis to run and manage their websites, and the platform is only getting better over time. It’s designed to be a user-friendly platform for website design & management, packed with useful features to ensure your site looks amazing and functions beautifully on all devices—giving your customers a professional brand experience.

Plus, with Squarespace's robust SSL security, your site stays professional and safe for visitors.

06

Will I be able to manage & update my website myself?

Absolutely! One of the biggest benefits of using Squarespace for your website is that it’s specifically built with business owners in mind. Unlike most other website platforms (cough—WordPress—cough), Squarespace doesn’t rely on regular backups, updating plugins, etc.

Plus, once your site is live, you’ll receive a complimentary 30-minute personalised website video training, showing you how to navigate, update and manage your website. This means you’ll have more control over your site, right from the start.

07

I thought Squarespace was just templates, so why do I need a Squarespace web designer?

A common misconception is that Squarespace is just a template builder. Whilst there are some decent templates for you to use, they’re not built with your customer or business in mind. This means that whilst they look attractive, they’re not effective.

Hiring a Squarespace web designer means your website will be specifically built around your business and customers, ensuring your website is laid out purposefully and strategically. This makes it easy for customers to find the information they need, and to get in touch to work with or buy from you.

A professional Squarespace designer will also ensure your website looks professional, modern and visually-engaging, all whilst saving you the time and effort of figuring it out yourself and risking vital errors that can end up costing you more money in the long run. Plus, good designers can add some all-important flair to your site, so you can show up confidently and stand out!
